The girls varsity volleyball team lost their game against Downingtown East on Saturday Oct. 12, losing all three sets.
Despite the great hits made by sophomore Lillian Caldwell and perfect sets from sophomore Claire Richmond, the Downingtown East Cougars won the first set 25-18.
At the beginning of the second set, ’Stoga kept up with their opponents, matching them almost point for point. Soon, the back row could not recover from Downingtown East’s devastating hits and the Pioneers lost their edge. The set ended with another win for the Cougars with a score of 25-16.
The third set came off to a rough start that continued throughout the rest of the game as ’Stoga began to make multiple service errors. Although the pioneers couldn’t pull ahead, they delivered powerful hits from junior Sophia Chen and numerous digs from the back row.
In the end, Downingtown East prevailed and Conestoga lost the third set 25-15, giving their opponents the win.
