The varsity boys’ soccer team faced off against Upper Darby at Teamer Field on Monday, Oct. 7.
Things started off at a steady pace with shots on goal by both teams, but things picked up about 13 minutes in when junior Eli Brown scored the first goal of the game.
The ’Stoga boys continued to impress, with additional goals scored throughout the first and second halves by Brown, senior Nate Xu, junior Ethan Cross and sophomore AJ Nordone.
Junior Grant Burns and sophomore Shayl Chetty had numerous offensive plays, and multiple shots on goal by Burns contributed to ’Stoga’s final tally of 14 shots on goal to Upper Darby’s 5.
Defense by sophomores Lorenzo Vargas-Clarke and Alex Kornblatt helped to keep the ball on Upper Darby’s half of the field, but excellent goalwork by sophomore Charlie Smith ensured a shutout for ’Stoga.
Thanks to the boys’ strong offense and defense, the team was able to secure its sixth victory in a row, beating Upper Darby 5-0.
