The varsity girls field hockey team took on Strath Haven at Teamer Field on Wednesday, Sept 17. The girls started off strong, keeping the ball on the offensive side, with senior Chloe Ziegler and junior Jessica Mullin attempting to score, but no goals were made.
This changed when senior captain Annie Hirshman passed the ball up the field to her fellow captain Ziegler who scored the first goal of the game. The girls continued to play an aggressive game with junior Carly Hynd scoring the second goal 11 minutes into the first half.
The pioneers returned to the field for the second half with a 2-0 lead. Five minutes into the second half, freshman Kate Galica scored the third goal of the game with an assist from Ziegler. The defense kept the Strath Haven offense away from the ’Stoga goal, with great playing from senior Lauren Demilio and junior Sofia Ries. The lady pioneers finished off the game with a win, beating Strath Haven 7-0.
