The Conestoga Marching Pioneers were in high spirits for the Sept. 28 football game versus Ridley, despite a loss for the team. For the first time this season at home, the rain held off for the entire game.

The good weather may not have helped the team, but the marching band was consistently playing jams in the stands, from “Stacy’s Mom” to the “Cupid Shuffle.”

“The band is really tight-knit,” senior David Johnston said. “It’s really relaxed. You basically just hang out and play music for crowd of people and then perform a show on the field.”

Halftime performances haven’t been as common this season, as the consistent rainy weather has forced the band to stick to the stands. However, the weather for this game allowed the band to march their show on Teamer Field again.

Johnston, who plays the drums in the band, said that he always has a lot fun at the games.

“I like marching band because I get to play music with my friends on a Friday night,” Johnston said. “And I get free food.”

The band will continue to perform at the remaining games of the season.
