On Wednesday night, the Girls’ varsity field hockey team battled it out in the first district playoff game against Downingtown East. During the first half, it seemed to be anyone’s game, but the Pioneer win became evident with Annie Hirshman scoring the first goal for ‘Stoga with nine minutes left in the half. The rest of the half finished off with Senior Captain Kylie Allen’s goal, ending with a score of 2-0 in ‘Stoga’s favor. The second half was even more successful than the first, starting with Hirshman’s goal in the 12th minute. Shortly after, Kendall McGee scored once again for the pioneers, and ten minutes later, Allen scored another goal with an assist from Emma McGillis. The girls pulled off a 5-0 win, and will advance to the next playoff game against North Penn on Friday.
