On Monday, Feb. 6, the Conestoga Boys Soccer team went to the state capital to be recognized for winning the Pennsylvania state championships. While they were there, they had lunch, went on a tour of the capitol building led by Sen. Andy Dinniman, and were honored by the Senate. Head coach David Zimmerman described how the team felt about the experience compared to the last time they won in 2011. 

“Last time we went to the House. They brought us up in the front and they were incredibly rude. They ignored us and just talked when we were up there. It was like we didn’t exist,” Zimmerman said. “This (time) was very nice. All of the senators honored us and clapped, it was great.”

Zimmerman was proud of their win, and the team shares his sentiments. Senior Jack Davis on the team felt that being able to win the state championships and being recognized by the Senate for it in his final year at ‘Stoga was very humbling.

“As a senior, it was obviously really emotional and an awesome moment for me because it was my last game of competitive soccer. It’s great to feel the weight and gratitude of being state champion. Basically, I’m on top of the world right now,” Davis said.
